Subject verb Agreement Part 2 I have already taught you subject verb agreement or the Rule of Concord in part 1 of this post. In part 2, I will tell you about more exceptions to the rule of concord. Other exceptions to the Rule of Concord 1. Generally two or more nouns joined by ‘and’ take a plural verb:-  i) He and I are coming to you. ii) My father, uncle and I are not coming to your school today. 2. But when two or more noun taken together denote one noun, it will take a singular verb. i) My friend and guide is an Assistant Professor in a college. ii) By the death of Indira Gandhi, a great statesman and patriot has been lost. iii) The speaker and Vice-President is dead.
